The thing that's always been hard.
You know the one.
Not a crisis. Not a trauma. Just the thing you keep bumping into. The pattern that's been there so long it feels like part of who you are. This session says: it isn't.

This is a real group coaching session, recorded live with a group of clients. Thirty-eight minutes. We worked with something that most of us carry for most of our lives: the thing we don't like to do, don't feel we can do, keep promising ourselves we'll figure out.
The session combines EMDR-inspired bilateral tapping, a guided hypnotherapy visualization, and deep reflection prompts. It doesn't ask you to push harder. It asks you to look differently.
This page is yours to keep. The workbook is below. Print it, fill it, come back to it.

Your exercises. Your space.
Every prompt from the session is here. Use this alongside the recording, or on its own. It works both ways. Write directly on this page or print it out.
Part 1
Name your thing.
Write fast. Don't edit. There's no right answer. Write what comes first.
Prompt 1
What is the thing you always say you'll get better at, but somehow haven't?
Prompt 2
When did you first learn this was hard for you? How old were you? What was the situation? Just a flash. You don't need the whole story.
Prompt 3
If this stopped being hard, what would be different about your life? Be specific. Not 'I'd feel better.' What would you actually DO differently?
→ Look at what you wrote. Circle the word or phrase that feels most alive. That's your thing for this session.
Part 2
The tapping exercise.
EMDR-inspired bilateral stimulation. You'll use this during the session. You can return to it any time.
How to tap
Option A, Butterfly Hug: Cross your arms over your chest, hands resting on opposite shoulders. Alternate tapping left, right, left, right. Slow and steady, about one tap per second.
Option B, Knee Tapping: Rest both hands on your knees. Alternate tapping left knee, right knee. Same rhythm.
Round 1: The body (3 min)
Bring your thing to mind. Where do you feel it in your body? Hold that sensation while you tap. Breathe. Don't try to change it. Just look at it.
Round 2: The belief (3 min)
Find the sentence underneath it. 'I'm just not good at this.' 'Something is wrong with me for still struggling.' Find YOUR version, and tap while you hold it.
Round 3: The question (2 min)
Introduce the opposite, just as a question, not a claim: 'What if this wasn't a flaw? What if this was something I learned to do, and could unlearn?' Tap while you hold that.
After tapping
Notice: how true does your core belief feel now, in your body, compared to when you started? Not in your head. In your body. What shifted, even slightly?
Part 3
The visualization.
A guided inner journey to meet the younger version of you who first learned this was hard. Your notes from that experience belong here.
During the visualization you visited a younger version of yourself, the one who first learned this particular thing was too hard, too dangerous, or not for you. What you saw is yours. Use the space below to capture it before it fades.
What you saw
How old was the younger version of you? What were they doing? What was happening around them?
What you understood
What did you see, about why this became hard? Who or what taught them it was?
What you said
What did you say, or want to say, to that younger version of you?
Part 4
What wants to shift.
Not a commitment. Not a target. Just an honest look at what's possible now.
Prompt 1
What did you see, feel, or realize in this session that you didn't quite see before?
Prompt 2
The next time this 'thing' shows up, what's one small way you could respond differently? Not a transformation. One small thing.
Prompt 3
Complete this sentence: 'I'm ready to be a little gentler with myself about ________________.'
Part 5
Before you close.
The group ended by sharing out loud. You get to do that here, on the page, just for you.
Prompt 1
If it were your turn to share, what is the one thing you'd say about today?
Prompt 2
What came up that you didn't expect? Write it down before it slips away.
Prompt 3
A week from now, what do you want to remember about this session?
go deeper
When you're ready for more.
These questions aren't part of the session. They're for a quiet morning when you want to sit with this longer. Come back to them in a week, or a month.
What would it cost you to stop struggling with this? Not in effort. What identity would you have to give up?
Is there someone in your life who struggles with the same thing? What do you feel towards them about it, and can you offer yourself the same?
If this 'thing' had a voice, what has it been trying to protect you from?
What is one relationship in your life that would change if you were no longer limited by this pattern?
If you were teaching a child how to relate to this particular difficulty, what would you tell them?
What version of yourself exists on the other side of this? Describe them in a few sentences. How do they move through the world?
